VOL 16 NO 06: 40 Ahaadith on Music

40 AHAADITH o­n MUSIC

 

(1) Hadhrat Abu Maalik Ash'ari (radhiyallahu anhu) says that he heard Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) say: "Most certainly, there will be in my Ummah people who will make lawful fornication, silk, liquor and musical instruments." (Bukhaari)

(2) In another version of this narration, Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: "Most certainly, people from my Ummah will consume liquor which they will describe with some other name. Over their heads will be playing musical instruments and singing girls. Allah will cause the earth to swallow them, and from among them He will transform into apes and pigs." (Ibn Maajah)

The punishment for music and singing is exceptionally severe. Some juhhaal (ignoramuses) have attempted to escape the condemnation of music and singing stated in this Hadith by presenting a very stupid argument. They argue that the punishment mentioned in this Hadith applies to a collective act which consists of four deeds, viz., fornication, silk, liquor and music.

It is their contention that musical instruments by themselves are not evil, hence not haraam. o­nly when used together with the haraam acts will it also become haraam, hence the Hadith mentions it along with the other three sinful deeds. The logical conclusion of this absurd argument is that if fornication is committed in isolation of the other three deeds, it will be lawful. Similarly, if liquor is consumed alone, i.e. without the accompaniment of music, fornication, and silken garments, it will be halaal. Similarly, wearing silk will be permissible for males according to this ludicrous logic if it is unaccompanied by the other three acts. The absurdity of this fallacious argument is self-evident. There is no need for discussing it further.

This Hadith is an unambiguous assertion of the hurmat (being haraam/prohibition) of musical instruments. In this Hadith, Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) uses the word (Yasta-hil-loona, i.e. they will make lawful). He mentioned four acts which people in the later ages would make lawful, viz. fornication, liquor, silk and music. This presupposes that these acts are haraam. It is meaningless to say that a lawful act will be made lawful. This absurdity is the consequence of the stupid and false contention of the proponents of music and singing. A haraam act is made lawful, and this is precisely what Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said.

The time will dawn when Muslims will make halaal these four haraam acts. In fact, all four evils have already been made 'halaal' in Muslim lands and by Muslim communities all over the world. There is almost unanimity of the stupid masses and the juhhaal deviate modernists o­n the 'permissibility' of music and singing. Alcohol in a variety of forms and labels has been given the green light by even the Ulama in most countries. Males don silk without even having heard of its prohibition. Fornication is actively promoted in the form of legalized prostitution in Muslim countries and at secular educational institutions. The Bangladesh Supreme Court transgressed all limits of shamelessness by declaring that prostitutes have the right to earn a living by means of prostitution. This shaitaani court ordered the Bangladeshi government to release all imprisoned prostitutes and to refrain from hampering them in the filthy trade of their bodies. These lesser signs of Qiyaamah are materializing right in front of our eyes. In some quarters an attempt has been made to assail the authenticity of this Hadith. Much has been written by the authorities of the Shariah in vindication of this Hadith's authenticity. Here it will suffice to say that this Hadith is highly authentic. It is bereft of any blemishes. The gravity of the chastisement - disfiguration and transformation into apes and swines - should be more than adequate to jolt Muslims into the realisation that music is a crime with which o­ne dares not trifle.

‘Takafol’ is Riba Insurance

TAKAFOL’ IS CONVENTIONAL riba insurance which is being fallaciously promoted as an acceptable ‘Islamic’ brand of insurance. Proponents and purveyors of this riba insurance disguised very deceptively in the hues of the Shariah’s concept of Waqf, are at pains to convince Muslims that their insurance project is different from the conventional insurance which even they acknowledge is haraam.

The two fundamental constituents which render all insurance haraam are Riba (interest) and Qimaar (gambling). Even after laboriously presenting labyrinthal postulation in the abortive endeavour to accord Shar’i legality to the old wine of insurance marketed in the very same old bottle, albeit with a different label of deception, the votaries of this riba insurance have miserably failed to substantiate their fallacy.

LAYMEN

One need not be a scholar or a Molvi to see through the extremely thin veneer coating the insurance product offered under the ‘Takafol’ label. The nature of the prohibition of this insurance is so conspicuous that even ordinary laymen will not be deceived. Even after just a cursory perusal of the ‘Takafol’ insurance agreement, if they are concerned about the Shariah and Allah’s command to abstain from riba and qimaar.

The Myth of Supervision

NO o­nE SHOULD allow himself to be duped by the claim of proper supervision of the processing, manufacturing and trading premises and records,etc. of the innumerable non-Muslim food establishments.

The inspectors of the certifying organisations are not omnipresent. Besides the lack of this attribute, there are other factors which inhibit/thwart proper supervision. Among such factors are hirs (greed) for money and fisq (flagrant lawlessness) of personnel. To compound it, there is the downright dishonesty of manufacturers who possess sufficient expertise to deceive the ‘halaal’ inspectors.

When they adeptly conceal the true state of their financial affairs from even tax officials, deceiving the ‘halaal’ inspectors poses no problem, especially when the traders feel that they are being extorted and pressurized to pay unjust fees.

DISCREPANCIES

From time to time discrepancies develop. The past bear ample testimony for such developments. The initial reaction of the sellers of ‘halaal’ certificates is invariably to cover up the rot by ‘negotiations and dialogue’ aimed at rectifying the wrongs and violations perpetrated.

Meanwhile, during the process of the discussions, the Muslim public being totally uninformed, continues consuming the products which the discrepancy has rendered haraam. It is o­nly after a break down in the discussions or failure of the establishment to rectify the position, does the halaal ‘authority’ deem it expedient to make an announcement and to withdraw its certificates.

THE QUR’AAN
—the Shariah of Islam—brands haraam food products ‘MAITAH’ or carrion. Maitah is spiritually as well as physically diseased and injurious. Lured and spurred o­n by monetary designs, men have banded together in organisations to achieve their monetary and worldly designs in the name of the Deen and at the expense of polluting the Imaan of the ignorant and avaricious masses by convincing them of the ‘permissibility’ of devouring carrion under the confounded and accursed ‘halaal’ logos which they churn out for o­nly money, and for nothing else.

ULAMA

The most despicable votaries of the rotten ‘halaal’-certification trade are the molvies who have acquiesced to being bed-fellows with the conglomerate of luckless souls who have absolutely no care and concern for the Aakhirah and the Accountability in the Divine Court.

"Whoever abstains from doubtful things, verily he

has saved his Deen and his honour." (Hadith)

These molvies who support and condone the satanic trade of this haraam enterprise have brought insult and disgrace, not o­nly o­n themselves, but o­n the sacred Edifice of Ilm-e-Deen. Did they pursue higher Deeni Uloom academically to become loathsome and silly inspectors to ‘supervise’ the plants of the pork-devourers and to promote their wares?

Did they acquire the Ilm of the Deen to break down Muslim inhibition to haraam by watering down the age old Muslim revulsion of accepting meat products from the hands of non-Muslims? The worst type of ‘learned’ man is the o­ne who pursues the knowledge of the Deen for the acquisition of the dunya.

While the primary and fundamental obligation of the Ulama is to safeguard the Shariah, admonish the masses and resolutely execute the Waajib duty of Amr Bil Ma’roof Nahy Anil Munkar, the molvies aligned with the rotten ‘halaal’ certification ventures, abandoning their sacred office, and hankering after the pittance which the certification entrepreneurs pay, squander their time and the public’s money acquired by way of haraam monetary transactions.

"Verily, the Ulama are the Heirs of the Ambiya." (Hadith)

Men who are supposed to be among the Warathatul Ambiya, moving in the Shadow of the Nabi to execute the Mission which He had delivered from the Heavens to mankind, stupidly expend their brains and energy to devise methods for promoting the meat products and sales of the devourers of khinzeer and khamr.

The introduction of the E-number designations for chemical additives in processed foods has effectively camouflaged many haraam ingredients. A very convenient cover for concealing haraam ingredients has been discovered by western capitalists who are well aware of Muslim Deeni inhibitions.

The primary purpose for the invention of the E designation, was to conceal the haraam-content of processed foods. Tons and tons of haraam fat, including pork fat, are processed in factories to produce a variety of chemical additives which are designated with E-numbers.

Besides the health hazards which these poisonous substances pose, the spiritual poison o­n account of the haraam raw materials from which these substances are derived, is worse. It is, therefore, imperative for Muslims to abstain from products which contain these deceptive and misleading Enumbers. The E was specially designed to deceive and mislead.

SANHA’S LAMENT Its Haraam Exorbitant Fees

IN VINDICATION OF its unjustified haraam fees, SANHA laments:

"The fees charged by SANHA have always been commensurate to services which are provided. SANHA is a non-profit organisation that levies licensing fees in lieu of services rendered to effectively investigate, supervise and monitor Halaal establishments.

It does not o­nly rely o­n donations to meet the salaries of its staff and inspectors who undertake regular inspections all over the country. Notwithstanding this, rumours surface regularly o­n the "exorbitant" fees charged by SANHA. Regrettably proof is never supplied and the charge remains as ‘hearsay’.

Inheriting Insurance

T H E R E   C A N    HARDLY   be any Muslim who remains unaware of Islam’s prohibition of insurance despite large scale indulgence in this evil of riba. Nevertheless, we still deem it an obligation to occasionally remind and admonish Muslims of the terrible consequences in the Aakhirah of haraam earnings.

POLICIES

Many Muslims take out insurance policies which mature while they suffer in their graves. After their death, the haraam money is devoured and squandered by the beneficiaries of the insurance policies.

According to the Shariah, o­nly the amount which the deceased had paid as premiums or fees, etc., forms part of his estate. When the insurance company pays the beneficiaries the insurance amount, it is Waajib that they calculate the sum total which the deceased had paid to the company. This amount should be distributed among the heirs in accordance with their respective shares of inheritance. The entire excess has to be compulsorily given to charity without niyyat of thawaab.

The excess which is riba, does not belong to the heirs. It is haraam money which has to be eliminated. Reckless and inordinate greed o­n such occasions overwhelm many people who cast aside their Imaan to benefit from the illgotten pittance
